EYAL WARE 18TH MAY
Dear all
Thank you to everyone who competed on Sunday. We had our biggest turn out ever with 49 boys competing including 11 athletes competing for the first time for the club. Particular thanks to Charlie Durr, George Coomes, Joe Slater, Thomas Storey and Daniel Rexha who all took time out of their revision for their GCSEs to compete.
We knew it would be a close match as we faced most of the teams who competed at the Plate Final last year, but we are delighted that we came 2nd so congratulations to everyone. The new combination of Enfield & Haringey combined with SS Athletics won but we finished ahead of Stevenage & HAWCS, Bedford, Cambridge, Thurrock & Harlow.
I am really proud of this team and excited for the rest of the season and for future years. The Under 13s and Under 15s both came second and the Under 17s won their category. There were a total of 67 personal bests recorded by the boys team. We now have four Under 13 boys with a national ranking in the 100m (Nathan, Emmanuel, Harry and Louis) and four Under 13 boys with a national ranking in the 200m (Abe, Max, Louis and Emmanuel).
Male athlete of the match goes to U17 Freddie Hollings-Yates who put in a sterling effort for the club and was rewarded with three PBs. He came 2nd in the A string 800m in a personal best time of 2 minutes and 3 seconds. He also came 2nd in the B string 1500m in a time of 4:22.8, breaking his previous personal best time by over 9 seconds. To round off a busy day, he competed in the triple jump, finishing 4th in the A string with a new PB of 11.06m (a PB by 82cm). As a Team Captain, Freddie leads by example, he is always positive and is happy to help others.
The outstanding performance of the day came from Under 15 Jake Summers. He competed in the Under 17 race and won it convincingly in a personal best time of 4:10.6 seconds. This time ranks him as the second fastest Under 15 in the country (as of 20.05.25).

- U13 Nathan Adeleye winning the A string 100m with a time of 13.0s
