The highlight of the day was the tag team of Luke Dunham (1st) and Ben Murphy (2nd), who both executed a perfect race stratgey to secure a one-two in the competitive junior men’s race. Luke controlled the pace throughout which allowed Ben to time his final effort, sprinting away in the closing stages for a highest ever finish in the competition. Once again, it was an excellent turn out by the boys. U15 athletes Sean Mazur (15th), Jake Summers (16th), and Freddie Hollings-Yates (19th) all showed the benefit of their autumn training at Wodson Park by claiming top 20 finishes. The A team claimed second place on the day and leapfrog Shaftsbury Barnet Harriers and into second place overall.

There was success too in the senior women’s race as Annabel Gummow (1st) finished almost a minute ahead of her nearest rival. Harriet Kealy (13th), Deborah Rushman (29th; 1st FV55), Alicia Found (47th) and Eleanor Mason (92nd) meant an almost complete women’s team grabbed fifth place on the day, their highest finish of the season.

Also claiming their highest finish were the U13 boy’s team, who were led home by a typically brave performance by Joshua Maiden (2nd).Multi-discipline athlete Miles Boston (6th) showed his speed in the closing stages to take an excellent 6th place with Alban Wadley (8th)not far behind and Thomas Summers (29th) finishing the job to secure second place on the day for the boys. It has been fourth, third and second place so far this season, will the U13 boys go one better on home turf next time out? We hope so!
