UK Herts U13 Challenge June 19th

Congratulations and thank you to everyone who turned out on a school night to represent their club.  You were all brilliant.  The boys' team won by a huge margin of 16 points.  Here are the scores:
 
1st Herts Phoenix 105 points
2nd Dacorum 89 points
3rd Stevenage & North Herts 88 points
4th St Albans  75 points
5th Watford  33 points
6th HAWCS 12 points
 
 
Out of 22 individual events undertaken, the boys' recorded 16 personal bests which is amazing. Eight members of the team are young enough to compete in the event next year.  
 
We were strong on the track and in the field and didn't have any gaps so well done to Abe who stepped up to do the shot put, you scored 5 points for us by doing this.
 
There were A string wins for Osa Ogbeide in the shot put (9.60m) and Miles Boston in the hurdles (13.0 seconds, new PB) and javelin (a huge new PB of 32.29 metres, ranks him 9th in England).
There were A string 2nd places for Joshua Maiden in the 800m with a PB of 2:25.2 and Callum Wallis in the long jump (4.19m, a PB by 20cm).
 
There were B string wins for the following athletes:
 
Alban Wadley in the long jump and 800m (in a PB of 3:32.5 which knocked 11 and a half seconds off previous best time)
Abe Martin in the hurdles (14.9 seconds, new PB)
Jesse Judge in the 200m in a PB of 29.5 seconds (knocked 1.6 seconds off previous best time)
Harry Howes in the javelin
 
I am very proud of the team and hopefully I will see you at the next EYAL fixture on 21st July at Hemel Hempstead.  I'll be sending out an email about this shortly.  I am confident that our Under 13 boys team will do very well in this fixture.  This will be the last chance for athletes to compete as a Non-scorer for the club this year.  If we make the Plate Final on 8th September, I am not allowed to take non-scorers so will be picking the best two based on Power of 10 results and obviously balancing the needs of the team.
